I have a Canon HG20 with built-in harddisk and usb port. But I was just aiming at the fact that maybe 99% of all desktop pc's since 2000 come with a built-in firewire port. So having to buy an extra pci card reminded me of the late 90s.

If you're making videos for YouTube I recommend solid statem, SDCARD or memory stick, over tape. Firewire bit was useful though. Got more sockets on my camera than I can count. Yeah usually I copy files off the SDCARD, but sometimes it'd be useful to maybe be able to capture from the good camera.

Yeah, I dont doubt Premiere is a way better editor than Movie Maker, it's just you don't need it. I mean, if you're just making videos that aren't edited with any fancy effects, like most of yours are (Put it in Your Mouth, Namasenseis Lessons) then Movie maker works perfectly. We make 10 minute videos with heavy editing and they export and upload perfectly fine. So I don't think it's necessary to buy any expenisve editing software.

First you need to set youtube to default on low quality. It is in your account settings. Second you need to get some USB ram for the notebook if the OS can do that. 3rd, Clear off at least 2 gb of space from your main hard drive. Wipe out your temporary internet files. Make sure your internet connection is hard wired and that it is at least 10Mbps. If you do these things you have a chance. If it was a desktop PC I would reccomend upgrading seperate components.

In my opinion you should pay for it if you get picked up for a TV series or if you make a movie that gets produced. Some of the older versions of the software are also good for editing and cost nearly nothing nowadays on Ebay if you want to go the streight and narrow route. I started using the software through a university TV station. Regardless those torrents are so easy to find and use that anyone who knows how to use a torrent can find it.

How many people do you think have the cash to drop $1300 on editing software? That is, if they went about legally paying for it. But still. Who do you think has the patience to find a torrent for such sophisticated editing software? I personally got mine through a torrent, but it took a damn long time.

You can use a DVR like James Rolfe or you can get a really good HD TV and a decent camera like me. Both work very nicely.
